Following Joe Lynch's barnstorming final relay leg of 42.92s in the division 3 4x400 relay on the weekend (we didn't get a split, but have been able to confirm the time by subtracting the other team members' season rankings of 61.34, 63.34 and 63.34 from the total time of 3:50.8h), scientists have concluded that we can run 100m in 6.67s.
Being barefoot is not just for people who are pregnant in a kitchen.
Distance runners are more intelligent because being overweight or obese makes your brain shrink.
Based on racehorse stud data and the track records of the resulting offspring, if your mum paid $50 million to sleep with an Olympian (or a horse), you are probably a poor return on that investment.
Shouting obscenities all the way through a race will make you run faster, because swearing helps increase your pain threshold.

Premiers and Runners Up In Eastern Region Finals
Saturday, February 6, 2010
A good day for St Kevin's AAC at the Eastern Region Finals:
- Runners Up (behind Box Hill) in division 1; and
- Premiers in division 3.
It appears that the skaac brains trust might even have been a little too pessimistic about our chances, with the gap to Box Hill in division 1 not so great and the win in division 3 fairly emphatic. This was despite some bad luck with injuries and a couple of muck-ups on the day that saw us miss out on easy points in the hammer and high jump.
Both teams are now through to the Shield Final at Doncaster next Saturday, which will be the last teams event for the club this season.
While there is a scheduling clash between the Shield Finals and the national multi event championships that will undoubtedly hurt us (Steve Cain and Dan Bailey are fairly handy athletes), it may not be as big an issue as initially thought, given that we are stronger than we thought anyway, should be able to get back some easy points that we shouldn't have lost today and should also have a couple of athletes back from injury. The thing that will probably determine our chances of taking out a state title will be whether we can get all our other athletes out on the track to cover the program.
So see you all next week at Doncaster, with team details and a post event venue for the celebration/wake to be confirmed during the week.

Round 12 Results - On to the Finals!
Monday, February 1, 2010
St Kevin's AAC finished the 12 rounds of the ordinary season well: The BBQ was running, the esky well stocked and we had good numbers on the track, with 11 athletes in each of the 400m and 1500m and plenty in most other events. Xavier Chapman put in a guest appearance in the 1500m and didn't do too badly (4:28.7) for someone who has been training indoors on a treadmill; the weather in Iran not always being conducive to a jog outside.
Plenty of quality too, with highlights including 5 athletes going under 4.20 in the 1500 and a 14.6 by Steve Cain to win the 110m hurdles.
Overall, it was enough to give us a win in men's Div 1 and 2nd place behind Old Scotch in Div 3.

Ladders are available here. These are the current ladders released by AV, but there appear to be some errors in some results, so we will confirm when they are finalized.
Eastern region finals are up next at Box Hill this Saturday, with the top two teams in each division going on to compete at the state finals. SKAAC is well placed in both Division 1 and Division 3 of the men's competition if we can get all our athletes on the track. It would be great to see everyone there, whether or not you are competing on the day - base camp will be in the usual Box Hill aths track spot, at the start of the 1500m.

Round 11 Results
Thursday night at Nunawading was highlighted by a PB for Timas in the 800 of 1:54.5, a big 6.96m by Dan Bailey to win the long jump, a win by Regan in the women's 800 and a win for the SKAAC team in the Div 3 4x400 relay (just holding on after the lead was almost thrown away by some showboating in the home straight).

All Time Rankings Updated
Friday, January 29, 2010
It's been a while, but the ever-popular SKAAC All Time Rankings have now been updated.
Athletes who have entered or improved their rankings since the last edition (about a year ago) include Alex Carew, Alex Rowe, Scott Crowe, Matthew Bertacco, Steve Cain (who also set new club Shot Put and Decathlon records), Dan Bailey, Gerry Sofianos, Jason Kozica and Lincoln Mah.
Also updated is the All-Time Tan List. The top 10 of the tan list is plain scary, with 11.33 required to crack a top 10 that includes several Australian World Championships representatives, national champions and one very fit musician.
The rest of the stats will be updated shortly.

Saturday Twilight Meet - Final Round Before Finals
Last round tomorrow evening, before the SKAAC juggernaut continues on to the finals in mens Div 1 and Div 3.
With both mens teams safely in the 4, it is a chance to have a tune up in a few events before the finals, while the Div 1 team is also in the running for the minor premiership. We are currently listed in AV ladders as second on the ladder in Div 1, with only 3 premiership points between the top 3 teams of Collingwood, SKAAC and Box Hill.
Base camp will be in the usual spot on the hill, overlooking the 30-40m mark.
